WHO WE ARE

The Mbaitu Community Foundation is a community-driven organization rooted in southeastern Kenya, committed to creating lasting and meaningful impact through education support, food security, economic empowerment, and community welfare initiatives. Serving communities in Kenya, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire.

Our Mission

To empower communities in Kenya and the United States by providing access to education, food security, career pathways, and community resilience programs for youth, families, mothers, seniors, immigrants, and vulnerable populations.

A thriving, interconnected Mbaitu community where:

WHAT WE DO

Programs in Kenya

Education

We support high school students in Machakos, Makueni, and Kitui Counties to remain in school, pursue higher education, and vocational training.

Food Security & Agriculture

We empower smallholder farmers, women-led households, and food-insecure families through sustainable and climate-smart agriculture

Student Mentorship

Complementing our education initiatives, this program supports both sponsored and non-sponsored students.

Afterschool & Summer Enrichment

Supporting students from low-income, immigrant, and refugee families.

College Access & Career Mentorship

Helping first-generation and immigrant students plan educational pathways.

Workforce & Economic Empowerment

  • Financial assistance during bereavement or crisis

Mbaitu Diaspora Community

The Mbaitu Community Foundation Diaspora Network brings together individuals and families living abroad who are committed to giving back, staying connected to their roots, and expanding opportunities for communities in Kenya.

Through collective action, cultural connection, and mutual support, we are building a global community that uplifts one another while investing in the wellbeing and future of generations at home and abroad.

Our diaspora community plays a vital role in strengthening education, economic empowerment, cultural identity, and community resilience.

Mbaitu Community Foundation Mbaitu Welfare Program:  is a community-based mutual support initiative designed to ease the financial burden during times of loss.

Membership Contribution: $270

Benefit: $5,000 in support upon the loss of a covered member

Purpose: To provide dignity, solidarity, and financial relief during difficult moments

This program reflects our core values of unity, compassion, and collective responsibility, standing together when it matters most.

Mbaitu Community Foundation Board of Directors is drawn from the Akamba Community in the United States of America (USA) and Canada, which is a representative of the three South Eastern Counties of Kenya. The main objective of this board is to oversee the development and implementation of Mbaitu programs/projects, both here in diaspora (USA and Canada) and in Kenya. The Board of Directors welcomes all the Akamba people to unite, identify with, support development needs, goals and objectives of Mbaitu Inc. and participate in building a strong and responsive Akamba community both in the USA – Canada, and Kenya.

Welcome to our website! Whether you are already a member or just getting to know about us, we hope you will find what you are looking for and perhaps learn something new about Mbaitu. The website contains information and features for the Kenyan diaspora community from South Eastern Kenya living in the USA and Canada, those from the region who immigrated from other parts of Kenya, volunteers and donors. Our mission is to network, support and learn from each other, promote members businesses and talents as we avail resources of members interests through zoom meeting and our grand dinner held once in three years.
